ART DÉCO

Graphic design from Paris

Tendrils of floral forms and strict geometric elements - the Art Déco unites the seemingly contradictory. In the 1920s, Parisian graphic design in particular experienced a new heyday. Posters, illustrations and advertisements reflect the dazzling themes of this period: the new advertising for art bijoux, haute couture and, last but not least, dance and cabaret leads us into the illusion of a better and more beautiful world.

In its spring exhibition, the Käthe Kollwitz Museum Köln presents fascinating Paris prints from the collection of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg.
