This work is the transfer drawing for the eponymous lithograph that was composed in 1932 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the USSR:
[…] I was asked by the Russians to document my comment on the imperialist war against Russia and created this lithograph with the title ‘We are protecting the Soviet Union’ (Propeller Song).«

The title is a reference to the refrain of the ›Propeller Song‹, the anthem of the Soviet air force, which became a general battle song of Russian workers.
